    30 Days: Day 2
My favorite film? Hmm, again, I have many. My childhood favorites were:

Alice in Wonderland (the first favorite I remember having!)
The Secret of NIMH (still a favorite, and was a big influence on my imagination)
A Christmas Story (still an all-time favorite)
    Neverending Story
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (in first grade I wrote a story about "the cat that got fried")

    Favorite movies acquired after childhood:
    The Shining
    American Beauty
    Finding Nemo
Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery
    There's Something About Mary
    A Clockwork Orange
Apocalypse Now (but so long you've really got to be in the mood)
    The Fall
    Napoleon Dynamite
    The Orphanage
    Ghost World
And even Titanic (OK, so I was ~15 and saw it in the theater five times and it was the only movie that made me cry whenver I saw it.)

See why I never know what to say when someone says, "What's your favorite movie?"

    Thirty Days
I decided to bite into the challenge.

You have to write about 30 things in 30 days - one thing each day, as follows:

    Items behind cut )

Day 1: My favorite song. These "favorite" things are probably going to be the *hardest* for me to answer, because I never have just one favorite song or movie. Favorite songs I have had in my lifetime are "Hidden Place" by Bjork, "Karma Police" by Radiohead, and even (this was when I was a kid, folks) "Check Yo Self" by Ice Cube. My childhood favorite song before I hit the rap phase was "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers... I was years away from knowing what the song was really about (heroin). The first song I remember really liking as a little kid in the eighties is "Spirits In The Material World" by The Police. One of the current favorites is "Lost and Found" by The Orb.

    Five gratitudes
Because I need to force myself to update.

    1. Met with that person I was going to meet on Saturday night, and it went very well!
    2. Got to see another friend the morning after that!
    3. Getting another knitting project done.
    4. Having more energy recently for some reason.
    5. For some reason, I didn't get post-fun depression after getting back from my trip. I just have that peaceful happy feeling lingering.

In other news, my insulin resistance diet book shipped supposedly a week or more ago, and it still hasn't shown up. I'm already trying (without too much success) to get on an insulin resistance diet, and I'm still having trouble understanding how it works. I hope that book shows up; I don't know what to do if it doesn't. I feel like it's pretty much my last option.

    Photo dump #2
These are a pair of pretty towns that we visited during the day trip.

    Easton, MD, where I went just a little camera-crazy o_O )

    Nearby St. Michaels, MD )

There are still more, but I think I'll get around to making the posts tomorrow evening. I eventually burned out on taking pictures. :P
