Online live IRC/Second Life support group for disabled women
I thought that I'd pass this info along, for anyone that might want to know. :)

The GimpGirl LJ comm has a support group tomorrow (Sunday the 16th) at 12pm Pacific / 3pm Eastern, for females that have a disability. They hooked up an IRC chatroom to their clubhouse in Second Life, so people can use whichever works best for them -- details in this GimpGirl post.

I was going to write more, and I tried to, but I keep falling asleep...so I'm going to post this and try to wake up instead.  :-p

    Happy International Women's Day!

I would have completely forgotten, had longtime friend Rainbow_Goddess not posted it this morning in her journal... So,  a thanks to her as well!

Trying to figure out Windows Live Writer... Maybe somebody has written a plugin that creates proper LJ/IJ/GJ tags & security levels? I wish there was a good strong client other than Semagic that worked for XP.  (Semagic won't work for me anymore.) The closest is the Firefox extension Deepest Sender; there's also the extension Performancing Scribefire, but last I saw, it wasn't any more LJ-focused than this is. Sigh.  I'd rather see WLW updated, since I really feel comfortable using it, as indicated by the fact that I'm actually writing something. I guess that I'll just have to only use it when I'm cool with posting totally in public, and then add tags later through one of the extensions -- or write it here, then copy/paste it to an extension.

Speaking of women, or Canadian ones (like Rainbow) in particular, I wish to strongly recommend Screw Bronze for her writing skill and for how mind-blowingly surreal her life is.  Rather than try to explain, I'll just link to her post Down The Rabbit Hole With Dr. A. It's long, but it's kind of like how my high-school friends regarded me: there's an urge to stick around simply to see what bizarre thing she or something in her life will do next.  It's not like it's common to read illustrated (and serious yet humorous) posts like 10 Easy Steps To Starting Wheelchair Badminton, and Why You Should!

Off to move laundry & give Bastian his meds. Only day-after-tomorrow till the vet appointment where hopefully we'll find out that the problem is something easily fixed with a medication change...just have to hang in there a little longer.  The scary thing is that what I suspect is setting his heart off is the same persistent ear/upper respiratory infection that I couldn't beat in the three cats I lost in the last half-year -- we've now tried two antibiotics plus a prescription antifungal/antibacterial/steroid ear drops, I've upped his immune supplement, and while he's a lot better, his ear is still damp & itchy inside, which is a huge problem since it's little irritants that seem to trigger fullblown crises in him.  Eek.

I can has kitty wading pool!
[Still IJ-only because I haven't gotten around to fixing Semagic yet... I think I'll post this publicly just for the fun of it, in fact!]

I love the little dude, but sometimes I really have to wonder about Sebastian... I heard a splashing a few minutes ago and looked over to see him standing with both forelegs in the water dish, "digging" at the water the same way he usually "digs" on the dresser before drinking. There's now a nice puddle extending about four inches from the dish towards where he had been standing. Now he's sitting near it, occasionally shaking one forepaw or the other...weirdo. It's not like he's remotely like any breed that is prone to enjoying water...

(You can has freakout -- omg Moggy posted twice in a single day! ;o)

I just found (and joined) a brand-new comm that I think some of you might enjoy (or even contribute to): [info]cat_macros.

I would go on, except he's now staring at me like "okay, I know you're capable of understanding cat speech so you know darn well the water dish needs to be cleaned and refilled, now that I've washed my paws in it..." (Ack! I still have no userpics here! Must remedy that...)
